Hi, I’m Laing,

I’m an entrepreneur and wanna-be polymath in the medtech space.

I’m in the very early stages of building a software product for 3D anatomy visualisation. Using 3D anatomy tools during treatment has already shown to shorten surgery time and improve patient outcomes, among several other benefits!

In Nov 2021, I joined the Herston Biofabrication Institute at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital as an intern, where I gained invaluable experience working on multiple research projects as part of the urological clinical program under Dr. Becca Murray.

In Oct 2022, I joined 3D One as an industrial designer, working in the commercial scale 3D printing business. During that time, I helped with production of various patient specific oncology products for radiation oncology clinics across Australia and NZ.

In Mar 2022, I co-founded Hypnos Recovery, an e-commerce brand supplying sports recovery products to professional and everyday athletes. I am eager to expand this brand into medical devices, therapeutic rehabilitation equipment and high performance metrics devices in the future.

Previously, I have worked with government procurement and tenders for the Sarina Russo group and have been a product specialist at Bopple, a start-up software platform for hospitality.

I studied industrial design and engineering at QUT in Brisbane. While studying, I attended King’s College and was a student executive during the college’s transition to co-residential in 2019. Throughout my coursework, I was exposed to several industry partnerships with notable entities like BMW Group, QLD Health, Intuitive Surgical and Beam Mobility.

I have immediate ambitions to work in medical devices, design consulting and MedTech, and future ambitions to be involved in venture capital, start-ups and hardware incubation.

On the weekends, I enjoy a round of golf, photography and various other passion projects - I am currently tinkering with multi-material FFF 3D printing.
